Dr Unruh grew up in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School in 1984. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Dangberg, in 1986. He attended the University of Nevada Reno with a major in Pre-Medicine in 1990. From 1991 to 1995, he attended the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. He graduated with many awards and was elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society, which is reserved for, roughly, the top ten percent of each graduating class. Tom, Kathy, and their children returned home to the Carson Valley the summer of 1995. After associating with his childhood dentist Dr. Walt Niemeyer, Dr Unruh opened his present office in 1999. He has been practicing there for over 20 years now.
Kathy Unruh
Kathy Unruh is our office manager. She was raised in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School. She is a 4th generation from the valley and her family, the Dangberg's help settle this area in the 1800’s.
She married Dr Unruh in 1986. She graduated from University of Nevada Reno with a bachelor degree in Speech Pathology. She has been working with Dr Unruh since 1998. Kathy enjoys camping, hiking and boating with her family.
Kristy Dangberg
Kristy Dangberg is Dr Unruh’s assistant. She was born and raised in the Carson Valley. She started her dental career in 2013 and has worked with Dr Unruh since that time. Prior to dental assisting, she was a successful nail technician.
When away from the office her time is filled with her kids and surrounding family in the area camping and enjoying summertime activities that include sunshine.
Alyssa Unruh
Alyssa Unruh works at the front desk and as a dental assistant when needed. She grew up in the Carson Valley and is Dr Unruh’s daughter. Alyssa has worked at the office for 5 years. She is going to school and would like to do something in the medical field. Her hobbies include hiking, running, camping, and being outdoors. She is also the proud owner of our therapy dog, Titan.
Alyssa has moved to Southern California but still works remotely verifying insurance to help you get the most out of your dental policy.
Karen Wilcks
Karen Wilcks works part-time in the front office. She was Dr Unruh’s office manager for 14 years before retiring. She was raised in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School. She enjoys camping and spending time with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Titan
Titan is our Therapy Dog. He is a black lab and is registered with Inter-Mountain Therapy Animals. He has worked with the reading program at the local library and assists and greets patients as they arrive.
He currently lives with Alyssa in Southern California but does come and visit our office occasionally when he is in town.
